My favorite Articulation Boom Cards all have an interactive element that will keep your student delighted and engaged.
Have you had that student who just wasn’t interested in practicing their speech sounds then you change the activity and they are all in? Or maybe the game they loved last week just isn’t their jam any more. That sigh and the look of disappointment in their eyes. “Are we going to do that again?” When they aren’t having fun, no one is having fun. Boom Cards make it so easy to turn on a dime. Just press a button for a new game and you are off to the races. There are so many articulation decks available to please any kiddo. Here are some of my favorite Boom Card activities for articulation therapy.
What are Boom Cards?
Boom Cards are digital task cards perfect for speech therapy. Check out my post here for more details. I have included links to free decks of Boom Cards in this post so you can try them out.
My Favorite Articulation Boom Cards
My favorite Articulation Boom Cards all have some feature that delights or challenges the student to keep them engaged. Articulation therapy can really be fun however it can take a lot of repeated trials for the motor learning to happen.
Have you had that student who just wasn’t interested then you change the activity and they are all in? The interactive nature of Boom Cards can help. They are so much more engaging than paper articulation cards.
Articulation Boom Cards can really help keep the students focused on the activity despite the repetition of the task. This can help both in therapy sessions and with parents who need to practice the target speech sounds at home.
These Boom Cards Appeal to Young Children and are easy to use.
Feed the animal activities appeal to many ages but particularly the pre-K to second grade students. Boom Cards are great for this. Before I started using Articulation Boom Cards I was printing, cutting and keeping all of my Feed the Animal activities organized on the shelf. Not to mention the clean up at the end of the session.
Now that I use the Boom Cards I can change the sound targets with the touch of a button and there is no clean up. I loved having those precious minutes to document instead of furiously cleaning up all the tiny paper squares off of my therapy table and lets’ be honest, all the pieces that fell under the table.
My Feed the Shark Boom Cards are always a favorite but the kids love the other characters as well. They think it is funny when the animal eats something like a hat or a sock. One student asked if the animal might get a tummy ache. These are so fun to pair with beach, zoo, pet store or forest themed therapy games.
Articulation with Suspense and Really Cute Animals
This Pop the Bubbles Articulation Boom Card deck is also engaging for younger students. The fun part is the suspense of waiting to see which animal is in the tub by popping the bubbles one at a time. Every sound has a different animal in the tub.
Have your students guess the animals as you pop the bubbles. A “pop!” sound always adds fun to this activity and the kids love it!
Articulation with an Artistic Touch
Do you have students who love to use their artistic skills? Let them be creative with no paint or glue in sight. The other bonus is that there is no prepping a craft the night before.
Gum ball articulation has been very popular with all ages because the kids love to use the gum balls to make patterns in the gum ball machines while they practice their speech sound. This game is a real winner for getting lots of trials of your targeted speech sound.
You can take a screen shot of their creation at the end.
Here is a link to a similar game with a Christmas theme and another one with an Easter theme.
Articulation Game Play
Another perennial favorite has always been Articulation Tic Tac Toe Boom Cards. These come in themes for all seasons so they are great any time of year. The social nature of the game that everyone knows how to play really keeps those kiddos engaged.
Especially those students who are a little competitive. This little game has kept my students happy through many therapy sessions. Interactive, engaging and no clean up. Perfect.
Where can you use Boom Cards?
You can use them in a classroom or your speech room or in teletherapy. They can be used on a tablet, desktop computer on an interactive white board and on most teletherapy platforms.
I have used them on a teletherapy platform as well as on my iPad in my speech room. Just make sure you have wifi.
